St John’s Preschool Worthing took over from St John’s Playgroup in 2009. It is run by a governing body appointed by St John the Divine Church. The governors are:
Sally Thompson – Chair of Governors
Fr. Tim Peskett – Vice Chairman of Governors
Martin Lloyd – Governor
Paul Waterhouse – Governor
Gillian Almond – Governor
St John’s Preschool operates from St John’s Hall, which is located next door to St John’s Church, West Worthing.
The children have access to two outdoor play areas. The first is located at the rear of the building, where the children can explore the mud kitchen; play in our water, sand, and digging areas; and look after our fruit and vegetable plants. The second is our secure courtyard area located at the front of the hall, where the children have plenty of space to run around and use our bikes, scooters and tricycles.
St John’s Preschool has a maximum capacity of twenty-six children. We are open Monday to Friday during term time, and offer Stay and Play sessions at certain times of the year so that parents can come and join in the fun!
The preschool is in receipt of funding for the provision of free early education for eligible children aged between 2 and 4 years old. We support children with special educational needs or disabilities, and children who speak English as an additional language. We employ a number of fully-qualified staff, including a Preschool Supervisor and Preschool Manager.
St John’s Preschool is registered and inspected by Ofsted. We were awarded ‘Good’ in our most recent Ofsted report: St John’s Preschool Ofsted Report.
